Meditation is sometimes portrayed as taking a break from reality, as a spiritual practice, or as a way of relieving stress.  It can be those things, but it is also much more than that.  It is a skill that anyone can learn and is a practical exercise that helps every aspect of life.

Meditation can be a practice that can help you to engage with life more fully.  It can help you manage your mind better so that you can get more out of your day.  That can show up by being more effective in your job, but also by being a better father, mother, friend, lover, or even just as the best version of yourself.

RealWorldMeditation.org is intended to help show how.

Here you will find free introductory instruction on how to start meditating and support in your practice as you progress.  We don’t subscribe to one type of meditation and will introduce a variety of techniques.  Nor do we adhere to any single philosophy of meditation and believe that different techniques may work better for different people at different times in their lives.  So we will borrow from many traditions to give you a broad overview of the discipline.

You can also find recordings of guided meditations to help you, and courses will be made available as they get developed.

You can read articles by real world meditators who will de-mystify what it does, what it looks like, and how anyone can do it.

There is one over riding principle we do want to stress though:

No matter how strongly you believe you can’t meditate,

we believe you’re wrong.

You can.

We will do our best to show you how.
